Babymoon during pregnancy: 5 reasons to (not) go

Babymoon during pregnancy: 5 reasons to (not) go

Our community was almost perfectly split:
52% said must. 48% said overrated.

The babymoon.

Because the sun is starting to show again. Spring is in the air. And suddenly they’re back: those vacation cravings.

For many expecting parents, one question naturally pops up:

Should we go on a babymoon during pregnancy?

For some, it’s a romantic must-do.
For others… just a regular holiday with slightly heavier carry-on luggage (namely: a baby in the making).

So why are opinions so divided?

Here are five reasons to go on a babymoon… or skip it entirely.

1. One last romantic trip together (or not)

For many couples, a babymoon feels like the last romantic getaway before the baby arrives.

One more slow breakfast together.
One more long dinner on a sunny terrace.
One more morning sleeping in without someone deciding at 4:12 a.m. that the day has officially begun.

Sounds pretty perfect.

But… why necessarily just the two of you?

Soon you might be doing those exact same things with three - baby along for the ride, stroller parked next to the table, and maybe a slightly shorter dinner because someone halfway through decides it’s feeding time.

Many parents simply bring their baby everywhere.

So maybe a babymoon isn’t the last trip as a couple.
Maybe it’s just… a holiday with a tiny passenger already on board.

2. Because travel takes you to beautiful places (or not)

Discovering new places, staying in a hotel with an ocean view, stepping away from everyday life for a while. Travel can be wonderful.

Until you try folding yourself into an airplane seat while very pregnant.

And the moment when you ask the entire row - for the fifth time - if they could please stand up because you need to go to the bathroom again.

Traveling during pregnancy can absolutely be beautiful.

But sometimes the destination is slightly more relaxing than the journey to get there.

3. To finally do absolutely nothing (or not)

For many women, a babymoon means one thing: relaxation.

No work.
No obligations.
Just a few days to unwind together.

But somewhere in the middle of pregnancy, something else can happen.

Nesting instinct. And it can hit hard.

Suddenly it feels suspiciously logical to stay home and “quickly finish” the nursery.
Sort the baby clothes.
Reorganize the changing table.
And definitely hang that one last shelf.

Because the closer the baby gets, the nicer it sometimes feels to have everything at home ready and in place.

4. To finally rock that new bikini (or not)

Of course, a babymoon is also the perfect excuse to spend a few days in the sun.

Pregnant or not, a pool, beach, or ocean-view terrace can do wonders for your mood.

And let’s be honest: it’s also a great moment to wear that one bikini in which you truly feel comfortable with your pregnancy boobs.

During pregnancy, breasts often change faster than you expect. A bikini that moves with your body can make a world of difference.

But then again…

If you’ve found a Feelou® bikini you’ll happily wear for years — do you really need an entire babymoon for that?

After all, that bikini will work just as well during a water birth, baby swimming, or simply at the local pool around the corner.

5. To appreciate your body for a moment (or not)

Pregnancy is special. But it’s also a time when your body is constantly changing.

Your belly grows.
Your breasts change.
And sometimes your body suddenly feels very different from what you’re used to.

For some women, a babymoon becomes a moment to pause and appreciate that phase.

A few days away.
Maybe taking some beautiful photos of your belly.

Although you could just as easily do that at home.

With a mirror, good lighting, and a partner who simply does exactly what you tell them to do.

And maybe that’s exactly why opinions about babymoons during pregnancy are so divided.

For some, a babymoon is a special milestone.

For others, it’s simply… a vacation.

When is the best time to go on a babymoon during pregnancy?

Most couples choose to go on a babymoon during the second trimester (between week 14 and 28). This is often the period when many pregnancy symptoms start to fade and traveling is usually still comfortable.
